#IWD2024: A campaign to "invest in Women": WOMEN SPEAK!

Brigap Organization joined the rest of the world in celebrating the International Women’s Day 2024 under the theme "Invest in Women, accelerate progress" by availing a platform for South Sudanese young women to share their views on how investment on women can spark spiritual, social and economic progress in South Sudan. Check out on what they have to say:

Women Speak:
Ludia A. Mukhtar

"Women in the gospel ministry deserves to be respected and supported because it is not easy to be fulfilling the work of God yet everyone is expecting you to be just a customary woman. People have to come to an understanding that women also get visions and aspirations from God and therefore, they need to be held up by their family, friends, colleagues and their spouses as well to accomplish the call of God upon their life".

Rachel Hakim

"Investment in women's skills training and education is a crucial area for accelerating progress. By providing women with access to quality education and skill-building opportunities, we empower them to enhance their knowledge, capabilities, and economic potential. Investing in women's education equips them with the tools to pursue better job prospects, break through gender barriers, and contribute meaningfully to the workforce".

Sarah Atoj

"Investing in women's leadership and political participation is crucial for accelerating progress toward gender equality and inclusive governance. When women are empowered to lead and make decisions at all levels of government and organizations, they bring diverse perspectives and solutions to the table, which often leads to more comprehensive and effective policies. Such investment encourages equitable representation, ensuring that the needs and rights of all community members are considered. Additionally, female leaders serve as role models, inspiring women and girls to aspire to leadership positions themselves".

Poni Henry

"Investing in women's education and skills training is crucial for accelerating progress towards economic development. By providing women with access to quality education, including STEM fields and vocational training, they can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in today's globalized economy. Moreover, education empowers women to make informed decisions about their health, family planning, and overall well-being, leading to healthier communities and reduced poverty levels. Ultimately, investing in women's education not only benefits individuals but also has far-reaching positive effects on society as a whole".

Pamela Golda

"Women’s economic empowerment: It is essential to achieving women’s rights and gender equality. Women’s economic empowerment means ensuring women can equally participate in and benefit from decent work and social protection; access markets and have control over resources, their own time, lives, and bodies; and increased voice, agency, and meaningful participation in economic decision-making at all levels from the household to international institutions".

Nancy Poni

"Women are the backbone of agriculture, making significant contributions to crop production, livestock management, fisheries, and forestry. They often play different roles as income earners in their households—as farmers, agro-dealers, sales agents, and extension workers. Women also play critical additional care roles such as providing food, water, and fuel, and caring for children, the elderly, and the sick. Engaging women in agriculture will benefit the rural economy".
